新落成于淮海中路1848号的Urbancross Gallery | 城市交集将于2020年6月24日举办首展“构造未来 FORMING THE FUTURE。参展作品分别是来自建筑师柳亦春和艺术家殷漪的合作作品《美术馆(四屏装置版)》、建筑师童明的《马赛克乌托邦》和建筑师袁烽的《生产游离》。

UrbanNetworkOffice is honored to announce that URBANCROSS Gallery will officially open to the public on June 24, 2020 with the opening exhibition "FORMING THE FUTURE", curated by UNO, presenting architects and artist: Liu Yichun, Philip F. Yuan, Tong Ming, Yin Yi.

 

展览试图以三个实验性的影像装置来探讨“建筑”这个古老学科的“前方”。参展建筑师和艺术家以影像和声音作为信息传递的媒介,表达了对于逐步显现的未来的三种构想,并展现了三种对应的建筑实践方向。

The exhibition attempts to explore the "front" of the ancient discipline of architecture with three experimental video installations. The architects and artists who participated in the exhibition used images and sound as the media of information transmission to express three kinds of ideas for the gradually emerging future, and then showed three corresponding architectural practice directions.

 

“构造未来” 以展览为起点,同时联合那行文化-零度空间,将举办五场面向公众的讲座。讲座也将邀请专业学者共同参与讨论,延申并拓展“构造未来 FORMING THE FUTURE”的相关议题。

FORMING THE FUTURE will take the exhibition as a starting point. Five public seminars will be held in collaboration with NEXTMIXING. We will invite architacts to participate in the discussion to develop the related topics of FORMING THE FUTURE.

建筑是人类构造自我世界的一项首要任务。

Architecture is humans’ primary task for making a livable environment.

 

如果我们将建筑视为一种行动,这意味着,它是关乎时间的,所谓的构造就是将那个已然孕育但尚未显现的世界塑造成形。建筑并非总是一面被动的镜子,我们不能忽略它对于塑造未来的主导作用。

If we regard architecture as an action, it should be related to time. Because the so-called "construction" is to shape the world that has been incubated but not yet formed. Architecture is not always mirroring the past, we can not ignore its leading role in shaping the future.

 

同时,建筑是关乎形式的。建筑师通过造形工作,实现了一种秩序,影响了人们的意识。这种创造源自于精神,引发了由建筑形式所焕发的激情,也就是我们感受到的美。

Architecture is also about form. Architects work to realize an order and influence people's consciousness through these forms. Such a creation originated from the spirit provokes the passion toward architectural form; it is then that we experience the sense of beauty.

在以往的时代里,这意味着,建筑是人性的。建筑师通过某种直觉,灵魂、思想与身体的不可分割的同化活动,发掘视觉与情感中的非物因素。建筑也是技术的,需要通过某种工艺,并借助工具和机器加以形成。面对新环境与挑战,也相应要求发展新的工具以解决难题。同时,建筑也是社会的。建筑的产生依赖于群体性地协作,通过每个人的能力和才华来得以实现。建筑也将人们连结在一起,个体存在与集体共荣成为建筑的至为诉求,使参与其中的每个人都能理解其共同的主旨和价值。

In the past, it means that architecture is humane. Through some intuition, and the inseparable assimilation of soul, mind, and body, architects explore the non-material factors in vision and emotion. Architecture is technical and formed with the help of tools and machines. As architecture needs to face the emerging new environment and challenges, new tools are necessary. At the same time, architecture is also social, and the production of architecture depends on group cooperation, which is formed by the endeavor and talent of each person. Architecture connects people. Individuals’ existence and collective prosperity become the meaning of architecture. It enables everyone involved to understand the common theme and value.

今天,我们又一次正在步入一个不同以往的时代。在一个由信号、代码、虚拟图像所构成的世界里,以往的认知与感受都在经受着前所未有的挑战。在这样一个具有消解性、一切坚固的东西都烟消云散的时代,那些为我们带来视觉与身体感受的空间、质感、物性又将意味着什么?什么是永恒的?什么是变化的?什么是具体的?什么是抽象的?什么是理性的?什么是感受的……这也意味着,什么是建筑的形式,什么给予了建筑以形式,以及如何理解这样的形式也将成为一种问题。

Today, we are once again entering a brand new era. In a world composed of signs, codes, and virtual images, the former cognition and feelings are experiencing unprecedented challenges. Now, when all that is solid melts into air, trigger dialogues: What will space, texture, and physical properties that bring us visual and physical feelings mean? What is eternal? What is changing? What is concrete? What is abstract? What is rational? What is the feeling ... This further invokes deliberation on what is the form of architecture, what gives architecture the form, and how to understand such form.

“构造未来”的三件作品的主题可以分别定义为废墟碎片数字。这样概念的提出以及相关实践的表达,虽然并不一定能够成为针对当前时代变革的一种应答,但重要的是形成一种意图鲜明的正向面对。

"FORMING THE FUTURE" presents three works that may discuss Ruins, Fragments, and Digitals. The presentation of such concepts and the expression of relevant practices may not necessarily become a response to this ever-changing era. What truly matters is the gesture to confront the challenges with clear intentions.

柳亦春 | Liu Yichun

 

大舍建筑设计事务所主持建筑师、创始合伙人,同济大学建筑与城规学院和东南大学建筑学院客座教授,英国皇家建筑师协会(RIBA)特许会员,《建筑师》和《建筑学报》杂志编委。

Liu Yichun is the partner and principal architect of Atelier Deshaus. He is a guest professor in architecture schools of Tongji University and Southeast University since 2012, a RIBA chartered member, as well as a regular columnist for the journal Time+Architecture.

 

代表作品有螺旋艺廊、龙美术馆西岸馆、雅昌(上海)艺术中心、花草亭等,曾参加法国蓬皮杜中心“当代中国建筑与艺术展”、威尼斯双年展“中国新锐建筑创作展”、米兰三年展等重要的国际性建筑展览,曾受邀在多所大学和博物馆进行学术讲座,如同济大学、东南大学、天津大学、中央美术学院、华南理工大学、香港大学、哈佛大学设计学院、法兰西建筑学院、法国建筑与遗产之城博物馆、哥伦比亚大学北京建筑中心、上海当代艺术博物馆等。

Liu’s representative works include the Spiral Gallery, Long Museum West Bund, Artron (Shanghai) Art Centre, the Blossom Pavilion, etc. He has been invited to participate in a variety of major international architecture and art exhibitions, such as "Alors, La Chine?"at Centre Pompidou in 2003, “New Chinese Architecture” Exhibition at Venice Biennale of Architecture 2010, Milano Trinnale 2012, etc. Liu has lectured in many universities and museums, such as Tongji University, Southeast University, Tianjin University, Central Academy of Fine Arts, University of Hong Kong, Harvard Graduate School of Design, Architectural Institute of France, Museum of Architecture and Legacy of France (Palais de Chaillot), Beijing Centre of GSAPP, Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum, etc.

 

曾获“远东建筑奖”、由美国《建筑实录》杂志评选的全球十佳“设计先锋”(Design Vanguard 2011)以及由英国《建筑评论》杂志评选的新锐建筑奖(2014 AR Emerging Awards)、2015年伦敦设计博物馆年度设计奖提名、2015年福布斯“中国最具影响力设计师”奖、2016年“中国建筑学会建筑创作奖”金奖、“2019UED年度建筑师奖”及美国建筑师协会AIA中国区2019建筑类最佳荣誉奖等奖项。

Liu’s works have won a number of architectural awards, including the Honorable Prize of “The 7th Far Eastern Architectural Design Award”, Architectural Review’s Award for Emerging Architecture, the Gold Prize in the ASC Architecture Creation Awards for Public Architecture in 2016, and the Honor Award Best in Show for Architecture 2019 from AIA’s China Chapter, etc. The office is recognized as one of 10 Design Vanguards 2011 by Architectural Record, and Honorable Prize of the 2010 New Chinese Architecture Award by AS.Architecture-Studio of France. Liu was China’s Most Influential Designer by Forbes in 2015 and UED Architect of the Year in 2019.

 

 

童明 | Tong Ming

 

童明,博士,同济大学建筑与城市规划学院教授,博士生导师。2004年创立梓耘斋建筑事务所,开始建筑实践。童明作为教师的身份,使得梓耘斋的工作始终处于一种充满大学氛围的环境里,同时也根植于城市社会,力图深入理解并与之合作。梓耘斋建筑的大量工作都充满了试验性与研究性,并始终对广泛地学习与研究城市感兴趣,将由此形成的知识与思考融入到城市建筑的实践中。梓耘斋的建筑作品在各类国内外重要专业期刊与专著中广泛发表,曾参加2008年威尼斯建筑双年展,法国巴黎“中国当代建筑展”,法兰克福德国国家建筑博物馆“M8 in China,中国当代8位建筑师建筑展”等各类重要的专业展览。

Tong Ming is a Professor of the College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) at Tongji University. Tong Ming founded TM Studio in 2014 and began his architectural practice. As a professor, he put his team in an academic environment while building in the urban context, thinking in-depth, and breaking the boundary between institutions and communities. They combine academic researches and critical thinking with professional practices. TM Studio's architecture projects have been world-widely published in various high impact journals and monographs. Tong Ming has also participated in many influential exhibitions like the 2008 Venice Biennale, the "Chinese Contemporary Architecture Exhibition" in Paris, France, and the "M8 in China, China Contemporary 8 Architects Architectural Exhibition."

 

袁烽 | Philip F. Yuan

 

同济大学建筑与城市规划学院教授,博士生导师。2019年麻省理工学院(MIT)客座教授、弗吉尼亚大学(UVA)“托马斯·杰佛逊”教席教授。上海创盟国际建筑设计有限公司主持建筑师,专注于建筑后人文建构理论研究、数字化技术研发及建筑设计实践,致力于推广数字化设计和建造理念在建筑学中的应用。

Professor, College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP), Tongji University. Visiting Professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2019, Thomas Jefferson Professor at University of Virginia in 2019. Chief architect of Shanghai Archi-Union Architects. His research mainly focuses on the field of Post-human tectonics, robotic fabrication and architectural design practices, promoting the application of digital design methodologies and fabrication theories in the discipline of architecture.

 

已出版中英文著作10余本,多次特邀在国内外知名大学与国际会议讲座,设计屡获国际、国家级各类奖项。袁烽及其作品也曾多次参加威尼斯建筑双年展、芝加哥建筑双年展等多个国际展览,多个作品被纽约现代艺术博物馆(MoMA)、香港M+视觉文化博物馆永久收藏。

He has published more than 10 books on his work in both English and Chinese. He has been invited to keynotes and lectures at various institutes both domestic and overseas. His research and projects have received many international awards, and attended multiple international exhibitions including the Venice Biennale of Architecture and the Chicago Architectural Biennial, as well as formed parts of several renowned museum collections including the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York and the M+ Museum of Visual Culture, Hong Kong.

 

 

殷漪 | Yin Yi

 

殷漪,作曲家、艺术家、策划人。1998年组建慢核乐队“死亡诗社”,贝司手兼主唱。2001年转向数字音乐创作。殷漪早期的音乐创作领域包括:音乐表演、现代舞、肢体剧场。近年来的音乐实践主要集中于个人现场音乐表演以及音乐在社会结构中的功能性探索。

A composer/artist/curator, born in 1978, Shanghai. Work and live in Shanghai. In 1998, YIN Yi formed the slowcore band Dead Poets Society, as bassist and lead singer. In 2001, he turned to digital music. In early music career, his range of work includes live music performance, contemporary dance and physical theatre. In recent years, YIN Yi focuses his work on laptop music performance and the function of music in society.

 

基于对“声音”深度的思考和研究,殷漪展开其跨媒介的艺术创作,作品形式包括表演、声音、影像和装置。感知、身份、文化、媒介性成为其创作焦点。

Based on the in-depth thinking and research on Sound and Listening, Yin Yi’s intermedia art work includes sound, video, performance and installation which focus on perception, identity, body, culture and medially.

 

对于他来说,艺术是自我治愈的良方,也是思考与行动的试金石。

For him, art is a way of self cure and a touchstone for thinking and action.
