项目为一个以病人需求为导向的医院扩建工程。作为全哥伦比亚中强大的福利机构，它在城市中具有重要的标志形象。从一开始，砖就成为了医院的特色，设计意求在这一建筑中体现医院的整体价值观。

The building was conceived as an expansion of an existing hospital which values are patient oriented and that has an important iconic image to maintain in the city as a strong institution that sees for the whole wellbeing of Colombia. Brick has characterized the hospital since its beginning; the idea was to represent all of these ideas in a single building that described the hospital´s values as a whole.

连接成为了项目的核心想法。在考虑建筑的设计方案时，对大都市规模的理解就变得至关重要。因此，方案旨在成为对角线上的连接，并成为新的流动、活动与人际关系的催化剂，将医疗服务提升至一个新的水平。

The project´s main idea is connection. Our comprehension of a metropolitan scale is essential at the moment of thinking of an integral architectonical answer therefore, our proposal looks forward to be a diagonal connector and work as a catalyzer for new flows, activities, human relationships taking healthcare to a whole new level.

建筑的形象是设计的一个标志性元素。通过建筑的材料属性和结构形式，立面成为了组成功能与意象的元素，成为整个园区不可分割的一部分。立面用砖墙形成一个膜性结构，有助于与外部形成半私密的关系。

The building´s image is an important element for the iconic design. Through its materiality and configuration, the façade becomes an element of meanings and functions; it turns into an element of identity, configuring an integral element of the whole campus. This façade allows the use of the brick wall as a membrane that helps to have a semi-private relation with the exterior.

空间对人类行为的刺激作用颇为强烈，而建筑可以把人与空间联系起来，这就是为什么设计师要在9楼设置一个完全不同的空间，把一间充满植物的日光房置入其中，这可以让患者同外界保持联系。总的来说，医院的设计旨在加快患者的康复，光照、景观视野和自然元素都有助于术后和长时间住在重症监护室后的精神恢复。

The space is a stimulus and a big influence in human behavior, architecture has the opportunity to link a person with place that is why we propose in the 9^th floor a totally different space with a solarium full of plants in the middle of the hospital which will make patients feel connected to the outside world. The hospital design in general is made for accelerating healing process, light, views and nature help in minds recovery after a surgery or a long stay in ICU.
