第17届威尼斯建筑双年展延迟至2021年5月开幕

威尼斯双年展委员会宣布，由Hashim Sarkis担任主策展人的第17届国际建筑双年展“我们将如何共同生活？”，原定于2020年8月29日至11月29日在威尼斯举行，现被推迟到2021年，将于5月22日（星期六）至11月21日（星期日）举行。

La Biennale di Venezia announces that the 17th International Architecture Exhibition – How Will We Live Together? – curated by Hashim Sarkis, which was to take place in Venice from August 29th through November 29th 2020, has been postponed to 2021, to be held Saturday May 22ndto Sunday November 21st.

由于建筑展的推迟，由Cecilia Alemani策划、原定于2021年举办的第59届国际艺术展（59th International Art Exhibition）被推迟到2022年，将持续7个月，从4月23日（星期六）到11月27日（星期日）举行。
Consequently, the 59th International Art Exhibition, curated by Cecilia Alemani, which was to take place in 2021, has in turn been postponed to 2022. It will last 7 months and will be held from Saturday April 23rdto Sunday November 27th.

双年展在2021年5月作出推迟决定，确认目前展览无法推进。由于全球疫情而导致的旷日持久的一系列客观困难，使他们无法在一定的时间范围内实现如此复杂的全球展览。

The decision to postpone the Biennale Architettura to May 2021 is an acknowledgment that it is impossible to move forward – within the set time limits – in the realization of such a complex and worldwide exhibition, due to the persistence of a series of objective difficulties caused by the effects by the health emergency underway.

The current situation, up to now, has definitely prejudiced the realization of the Exhibition in its entirety, jeopardizing the realization, transport and presence of the works and consequently the quality of the Exhibition itself. Therefore, after consulting with the Curator Hashim Sarkis and in consideration of the problems, the invited architects, Participating Countries, institutions, Collateral Events are facing, thanking all of them for their efforts so far, La Biennale has decided to postpone the opening date of the Biennale Architettura to the year 2021, extending its duration back to the customary six months, from May 22nd to November 21st.

In the context of widening political divides and growing economic inequalities, we call on architects to imagine spaces in which we can generously live together: together as human beings who, despite our increasing individuality, yearn to connect with one another and with other species across digital and real space; together as new households looking for more diverse and dignified spaces for inhabitation; together as emerging communities that demand equity, inclusion and spatial identity; together across political borders to imagine new geographies of association; and together as a planet facing crises that require global action for us to continue living at all.

In effect, Biennale Architettura 2020 asserts the overlooked role of the architect as both cordial convener and custodian of the spatial contract.

关于策展人

2018年12月，威尼斯双年展委员会任命Hashim Sarkis为2020年建筑双年展策展人。Hashim Sarkis是Hashim Sarkis Studios的首席建筑师，自2015年以来在麻省理工大学建筑与规划学院担任院长。他曾是2016年威尼斯建筑双年展评审团成员，并与其事务所一起参与过威尼斯建筑双年展美国馆（2014年）和阿尔巴尼亚馆（2010年）的策划。
