以剖开的结构面向大海，OPEN新作时光塔主体结构封顶

由OPEN建筑事务所主持设计的时光塔项目于2023年夏至这一天（6月21日）顺利完成了封顶浇筑。该项目位于山东烟台开发区海边，预计将于2024年向公众开放。

OPEN’s Sun Tower topped out on June 21, 2023—the summer solstice day. The 50-meter-tall structure is located by the sea of Yantai, China, and is expected to be open to the public in 2024.

在全球气候进入紧急状态的当下，人与自然的关系早已不仅仅是美学的欣赏、资源的获取，或者是未知的恐惧，而是关乎人类集体的生存、迫切需要重新认识和探讨的问题。OPEN希望，建筑师能通过有意识的建造，让人和循环往复、无始无终的自然现象建立起可感知的联系，帮助唤醒和回归人对自然的敬畏、以及人与自然不可分离的信念。而烟台正好是最早产生拜日文化的地方之一。

At a time when the global climate is entering crisis mode, the relationship between humans and nature is no longer just about aesthetic appreciation, resource acquisition, or fear of the unknown; rather it becomes an issue relating to the collective survival of our species on this planet that must be brought to the front and center of everyday awareness and be re-understood. OPEN hopes that through conscious design, architecture can help re-establish a tangible connection between people and natural phenomena that otherwise seem to endlessly cycle with neither beginning nor ending, and this connection will in turn help awaken much-needed reverence for nature and the return of the belief that people and nature are inseparable whole. Yantai happens to be one of the places where the culture of sun-worshiping first emerged but was long forgotten.

这是一座根据阳光“雕刻”而成的构筑物，以剖开的结构面向壮阔的大海，致敬时间与自然。太阳在一年中的运动轨迹，成为这座看似无形的建筑背后精密的几何逻辑；内外两层白色混凝土壳体由水平的楼板和坡道连接，支撑起精巧而复杂的结构。混凝土外壳上的圆洞连接混凝土光筒，在白天将光线引入内壳，在夜晚，圆窗透出点点星光，建筑如同矗立在海边的一座时间的灯塔。

This is a building "sculpted" according to the sunlight, facing the majestic sea with a sliced-open structure, paying tribute to time and nature. The trajectory of the sun throughout the year becomes the precise geometric logic behind this seemingly formless building; the inner and outer white concrete shells are connected by horizontal slabs and ramps, supporting the delicate and complex structure. The round holes on the outer concrete shell are connected to various light tubes, which introduce natural light into the inner space during the day. At night, the round windows reveal warm light from the interior like shining stars. The structure stands quietly by the sea under the vast sky—a lighthouse for time.

另一方面，这是一座有内容的地标，包括室外剧场、展览、数字图书馆、现象空间、以及咖啡厅等复合功能，面向城市和每个人开放。建筑提供丰富的文化生活和公共空间、加强人与人的连结。

On the other hand, this is an iconic structure with mixed cultural programs, including exhibition, library, meditation spaces, outdoor theater and etc., which are entirely open to the city and to everyone. For a fast-developing industrial district, the Sun Tower will provide much-needed cultural life and places for social encounters which are important in building stronger and sustainable communities.

时光塔是一个与自然共呼吸的建筑，很多空间夏季不使用空调，让人感知四季的更迭、自然气息的流动，以及户外、半户外和室内空间带给人的丰富变化，从一定程度上激活被过度舒适的现代生活钝化了的知觉。在贝壳般光滑内壳包围下的室外剧场，有着奇妙的声学效果。

With many spaces not using air conditioning in summer, people can feel the change of seasons and the flow of natural energy, as well as the rich spatial experience among outdoor, semi-outdoor, and indoor spaces, this to a certain degree re-sensitizes us amid the ultra-comfort of modern life. Embraced by the seashell-shaped inner shell, the outdoor theater captures wonderful acoustical phenomena.
