Trinity College Dublin (TCD), the University of Dublin is recruiting a masterplanner to rethink its historic campus and other sites (Deadline: 10 August)
The team selected for the estimated €1,000,000 contract will work with TCD and key stakeholders to draw up an ‘ambitious, ground-breaking’ vision for the university’s 45ha College Green campus and other satellite facilities.
The four-year appointment will involve creating a strategic vision for the historic city centre university which embraces the major ‘environmental, social and economic’ considerations of our times.

The search for a masterplanner comes five years after TCD Perkins+Will for a new £840 million innovation campus on a prominent 2.2ha plot overlooking Grand Canal Dock and a short distance from Daniel Libeskind’s landmark Bord Gáis Energy Theatre.
According to the brief: ‘Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin is seeking to establish a single-party framework agreement for masterplanning consultancy services for a maximum duration of four years. The services required under the framework will consist of masterplanning services relating to TCD main campus and its satellite sites.
‘The masterplan will be a flexible document fit for purpose for a considerable time and will be reviewed regularly. In addition, the masterplan will be a plan for a sustainable future, and carefully balancing and embracing environmental, social and economic considerations. The masterplan is for the future development of the campus of TCD and must be ambitious, ground-breaking and a world leader in its influence.’

Trinity College sits opposite the former Irish Houses of Parliament. It was founded in 1592 and is the oldest university in the country. Historic buildings on the university’s main site include the Thomas Burgh-designed 1732 Old Library where the famous Book of Kells is kept.
The call for applications comes six years after Dublin-based Heneghan Peng Architects won a publicly tendered contract worth £700,000 to design a visitor centre inside ABK’s Berkeley Library at University of Dublin Trinity College.
The deadline for applications is midday, 10 August
